Jonathan Amon is a music educator and saxophonist based in the Boston area. He serves on the faculties of the University of Rhode Island and Bridgewater State University, where his combined responsibilities include teaching applied saxophone, chamber music, and various courses in music history and theory. Additionally, he teaches saxophone at The Fenn School and the Instrumental Music School of Carlisle and Concord (IMSCC), both located in Concord, MA. An avid soloist, he is especially interested in contemporary music and works that blend practices from the spheres of classical, popular, and traditional music. He has performed at various events of the North American Saxophone Alliance, World Saxophone Congress, and United States Navy Band Symposium and has premiered works by several composers including Joan Tower, Pierre Grouvel, Francine Trester, and Claudio Gabriele. He is an adjudicator for the Massachusetts Music Educators Association and Rhode Island Music Educators Association. His primary teachers have been Ken Radnofsky, Jean-Michel Goury, and Matt Sintchak.
